New England Wants to Trade with Dallas to Grab Cal DE Cameron Jordan; Quinn On The Radar?

Updated By: Russ Loede

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports the Patriots are looking to trade with Dallas to get California defensive end Cameron Jordan. The Patriots have two second round picks and are likely to be offering one in addition to their first round (17th overall) to move up to the Cowboy’s pick which is the 9th overall.

If not Jordan, then Quinn?

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe reports a league source said the Patriots have spoken to the Browns about the sixth pick and North Carolina defensive lineman Robert Quinn would be the likely target.  Here’s the inside scoop on Quinn and the Patriots need for a game-changing pass rusher on defense:

“Good player, but just not much body of work, and average character at best,’’ an  AFC personnel executive told the Globe. “Lots of upside, though, and if the Patriots were to hit on him, he would dramatically improve that defense. They have no pass rushers you game-plan for. It’s all scheme.’’

Whether it be Jordan or Quinn, it’s apparent the Patriots have a strong desire to trade up to draft their next “Richard Seymour” (Cam Jordan) or their next “Willie McGinest” (Robert Quinn).
